Well there might be a heatwave when we walk out the door but it’s super chilled down in our workshop. In the July edition of Apexis Engineering’s newsletter ‘The Engineering Echo’; we’re sharing the latest news and things that have caught our eye.

Welcoming our 2026 summer intern

Engineering summer intern

Emily Simpson has joined us today to work through her summer holidays; she has just completed her first year in General Engineering at the University of Warwick.

Emily says, “I am really looking forward to working at Apexis Engineering over the summer to improve my design skills, there’s already some really interesting projects I am working on which I am looking forward to getting more deeply involved in over the coming weeks.”

You can read more about Emily and our plans for her summer internship here: Welcoming our 2026 summer intern – Apexis Engineering

What a number

Designed well

We’re not talking about

the number of goals from Sunday night / Monday morning’s game, we’ve spotted the news on this 1993 Toyota Corolla hitting 1.2 million miles.

Super impressive stuff and shows when built well and then looked after things can perform exceptionally well for what they are designed to do.

Our latest insights

Mechanical Engineer and Design Engineer

We’ve uncovered why we’re a perfect turnkey engineering partner and it’s less to do with Seleena being a chatterbox and nosey parker when she’s onsite and more to do with Craig’s combination of mechanical and design engineering expertise that means what he designs he can make and assemble.

Not unusual you might be thinking, well actually it really is very unusual.

To AI or human in manufacturing…

Ford changes AI back to human Engineers

One of the phrases we use a lot is that as engineers we can look, listen, touch and understand machinery and plant operating in factories. AI can’t replace all of our skillset.

So, in more Automotive chatter from us we also loved the Ford story on them rehiring human engineers after the AI they implemented failed to complete the quality checks in their US plants. We’re not dissing AI but we agree that humans will always have skills and experience that can’t be replaced by this tech.
