Loading platform
A loading platform was a critical safety improvement on site where our client was undertaking a large-scale refurbishment and replacement project for a wet well within the water industry.
The loading platform was needed to enable the team to remove existing equipment within the wet well in a more efficient and safer manner. By having the platform, the equipment could be moved out by the static crane onto the loading platform. Once on the platform a forklift truck could then easily move it onto the lorry for the client to take the equipment back to their base for refurbishment.
The loading platform removed excessive movements of the extracted equipment and helped minimise the risk of the equipment being damaged when placing it on the floor.
Apexis Engineering provided a concept with the critical heights needed, provision of safe access with stairs and gates plus the ability to handle the equipment weight being moved in and out during the wet well upgrade. Once the concept was approved, we provided detailed design and manufacturing packs alongside the finite element analysis (FEA) with simulations to show the platform was safe to use for the loading requirements and the personnel involved in the process of moving the pumps and other equipment.
